Beginning

We started on the other side of the table

The Wally plant building in Katowice at dusk, with the windows lit up

We started out as a creative and advertising agency: brand creation, image, visual identity. We designed what somebody else was then supposed to make.

Over time we drew less and less, and put things in order more and more. Clients came to us with a visual problem, and underneath it there was almost always a process problem: done ad hoc, without a system, from scratch every time.

And that is where we hit the wall. The design was ready, the client was happy, and the execution could sink the whole job. Sometimes a deadline was missed. Sometimes the quality was not something you could show a client. Most often, though, we got a product that technically matched the order and missed the point of why it was made in the first place.

We came to the conclusion that the only way to answer for the whole thing was to do all of it ourselves, from the design through to production.

The beginnings were modest. We had neither experience nor production facilities. What we did have was something our contractors at the time were missing: we knew exactly what a good product looks like and what it takes to deliver it on time. We learned the rest along the way, often from our own mistakes.

It looked like a change of industry, but we carried on doing the same thing, just one step further along. Our knowledge of processes, lean and production automation only started to pay off for real once we applied it in our own plant.

History

How did we get here?

  1. Today

    Around 1,500 orders a month

Far more items and lines than that, because most orders contain several elements. Over 98 percent reach the customer on time or ahead of time.

  2. 2025

Conversion into a limited liability company

In January, Satto Media converts into a limited liability company. The brand, the team and the address stay the same.

  3. 2025

    White label production

We start manufacturing under other brands, for other companies in the trade. Our customers here are the people who sell signage themselves and know exactly what to look at.

  4. 2022

    Machine park expansion

An industrial cutter and further machines arrive at the same premises. From that point the whole chain, from the file to the finished product, closes inside our plant.

  5. 2021

    Trademark protection R.342714

On 8 June we receive protection rights in three Nice classes: 16, 20 and 27. The protection runs until 2030.

  6. 2020

    The move to Owsiana street

We move the plant to its current address in Katowice: 450 square metres on a single floor of an office building, chosen for the air cleanliness it gives the production floor.

  7. 2020

    We file the trademark

On 30 December we file the Wally word and figurative mark with the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland.

  8. 2018

    Into B2B in earnest

Offices, schools and production plants across Poland. We start marking up whole facilities with plates and signage, not single walls.

  9. 2014

    Our own studio and catalogue

We develop the brand's visual language and the first catalogue of ready designs alongside made to measure work.

  10. 2009

    We take production on ourselves

After years of working with contractors who did not deliver, we start manufacturing ourselves. Wally is born, in Katowice, where we still work today.

  11. 2003

    Satto Media

The company that Wally grew out of starts trading. Back then still a creative agency: brands, visual identity, design.

The plant

The whole process, from design to production, in one place in Katowice

We do not subcontract printing, cutting or milling. Design, file preparation, printing, cutting, laminating, milling, application, quality control and packing all happen here. That is how we can answer for the deadline and for the quality without passing the blame to a subcontractor.

Cleanliness on the production floor is a condition

The plant occupies 450 square metres on a single floor of an office building in Katowice. We have been working in this city since 2009, and at the current address on Owsiana street since 2020. It is not a warehouse hall and it is not meant to be one, because choosing an office building was a technological decision. Most of our products are made by bonding several layers together, and any speck of dust that gets in between them can be visible. That is why the plant is air conditioned, has air purifiers and is cleaned daily, partly automatically. Dust levels are a production parameter for us.

Cutting and finishing

Most of the work goes through an industrial iEcho TK4S cutter with a 2,500 by 1,600 mm working area, a camera, a QR code reader, lasers and a conveyor belt. It has three tool slots, including a water cooled high speed router with an automatic tool changer. Next to it, Summa S class plotters handle contour cut stickers, and rigid materials are worked on saws, mitre saws, panel saws and Keencut trimmers.

Printing and application

Roland solvent printers and Mimaki UV machines, which is where our wallpapers and wall murals are made, each on professional colour profiles and branded inks. Application runs on two tables: a large format one, 2.5 by 5 metres, using BubbleFree technology, and a smaller one, 1.3 by 2.5 metres, with pneumatically controlled rollers.

Materials and 5S

We keep a stock of key materials in our own warehouse. It costs money, but it lets us take an order without waiting for a supplier. The 5S method is not a slogan from a training course here, it is what every rack looks like: labelled slots, material sorted by format. The person putting an order together does not have to decide what to pack it in. Around one and a half thousand orders a month pass through these 450 metres, and almost every one of them is different.

Worth checking

What you can verify without us

Orders with no complaints

Over 99% of orders with no objections as to quality, conformity with the specification or condition after transport. Counted monthly, the same way as on time delivery.

Shop rating

4.95/5 (2,741 reviews) from verified customers, collected by an independent service. See the reviews

Would you like to see it with your own eyes?

The plant is in Katowice. We do not produce for stock, so you will not find a specific product sitting on a shelf here, but you can look at the materials and at whatever is on the production floor at the time. For a larger rollout, book a visit or ask us for samples.

Process

Standard production of non standard products

That is what we call it here, and it is not a play on words. The vast majority of orders are personalised, which means every one of them is different. And yet each of them goes through the same repeatable process.

  1. 1

    Order and deadline

Once you place an order, you get a completion date by email. Not a range, a date. Over 98 percent of orders reach the customer on that date or earlier.

  2. 2

    File preparation

Generating production files and preflight are automated. Nobody retypes dimensions by hand, so there is no way to get them wrong in the process.

  3. 3

    Queueing

The production manager sets priorities based on data and the current workload. We do not know our orders even a day ahead, and we still plan and deliver, because the decisions are made on numbers rather than on instinct.

  4. 4

    Printing and cutting

On colour profiles assigned to a specific machine and a specific material.

  5. 5

    Two stage quality control

Every product is checked independently by two people. That is slower and more expensive. We do it because a mistake caught here costs a few minutes, while a mistake caught at the customer costs a new deadline.

  6. 6

    Documentation and archive

Every order is weighed, measured and photographed before dispatch, and then goes into the archive permanently. Years later we can recreate the colours and the graphic style from it, so a board added in 2026 matches the one from 2019. Our customers put it more briefly: "you know our requirements".

What if something goes wrong?

We are liable for the conformity of the goods with the contract for two years from delivery. A complaint is filed through a form, it takes about two minutes and runs in three steps. See how a complaint works.

We write about this on the site deliberately. A manufacturer who hides the complaints procedure usually has a reason.

Fitting at the customer's site

Some rollouts we finish on site at the customer rather than by sending a parcel. We have done that with graphic walls in offices in Warsaw and with fitting out a unit in a shopping centre. On larger rollouts we agree the fitting date around your works schedule, because signage usually goes in at the end, once the building crews have left.

Settlement and advice

For public sector and local government bodies, and for companies we work with on an ongoing basis, we offer deferred payment. If you do not yet know which type of board will work for you, start with the board selector or write to us, because choosing takes five minutes of conversation, while getting it wrong means an order that has to be redone. The terms of ongoing cooperation are described in our B2B offer.

Responsibility

Sustainable production

Packaging

We pack with the necessary minimum, enough for the product to arrive safely, and we do not add filler where it is not needed. Production waste is sorted here on site.

Materials

We print with branded inks, and the material our wallpapers are made of holds a PZH certificate approving it for rooms where people spend time.

Fewer reworks

More is saved on what does not have to be made a second time than on the packaging. Two stage control and an order archive mean fewer reworks, fewer return shipments and less product in the bin.

Let us talk about your project

We advise companies, production plants, institutions, schools and individual customers. An enquiry takes 60 seconds to send, and standard production takes up to 7 working days. The plant is in Katowice, so if you are planning a larger rollout, book a visit and look at the materials on site.
