Chalkboards, create your own design

Made to individual order

Chalkboards to your own design

We make chalkboards in any shape and size, contour shapes included, for example in the form of a cup for a cafe or a bottle for a bar. We can add a permanent print, say a menu heading or a logo, and leave a field for writing in chalk. In the hybrid variant the board combines writing in chalk with a magnetic surface.

Common questions about custom chalkboards

How much does a custom chalkboard cost?

An A5 board starts at PLN 13, A4 format at PLN 15, and A3 at PLN 61. A 50 x 70 cm board starts at PLN 71, and a large 150 x 100 cm wall board at PLN 428. Prices include VAT and are per piece. A contour shape and a magnetic surface raise the price, so we quote them individually.

Can the board have an unusual shape?

Yes, we cut around any outline. The most frequently ordered shapes are tied to the trade: a cup and a coffee bean for a cafe, a bottle and a tankard for a bar, a cloud and a little house for a child's room. All you need to do is send a drawing or describe the idea.

What is a hybrid board?

It is a chalkboard with an extra steel layer under the surface. You write on it with chalk and pin magnets to it at the same time, for example photos of dishes or order slips. This variant costs more than an ordinary chalkboard of the same size.

What should I write on a chalkboard with?

Chalk markers are best, also known as liquid chalk. They give a crisper, more saturated line than traditional chalk and are wiped off wet, with a damp cloth, with no dust. Traditional chalk works too, but it leaves more dust behind.

Do you make single pieces?

Yes, we take orders from a single piece, with no minimum order value. We will also take a set of table boards for a whole venue, where each one carries different wording.

Is the board suitable for outdoor use?

For outdoor use, for example under a canopy in front of a venue, we choose a stiffer backing and a moisture resistant finish. Tell us where the board is to stand and we will match the construction when we quote.

Projects we have made for our customers

The boards below were made to individual orders. Treat them as inspiration and as proof of what is possible: we will quote and make your design in exactly the same way.

What is a custom chalkboard?

It is a board cut to the shape and size you choose, with a surface made for writing in chalk or with a chalk marker. The part of the content that does not change, for example a menu heading, a venue logo or a decorative border, can be printed permanently. The rest stays as a field that you write on and wipe clean every day.

Shape, backing and finish

  • Contour shape: we cut around any outline. Most often a cup and a coffee bean for a cafe, a bottle and a tankard for a bar, a cloud or a little house for a child's room.
  • Backing: from a thin self adhesive version for a smooth wall, through a rigid panel, to a variant made for outdoor use under a canopy.
  • Hybrid variant: a steel layer under the surface means the board takes chalk and holds magnets at the same time.
  • Permanent print: full colour, under the writing field, so it does not wipe off along with your writing.

What to write with and how to clean it?

Chalk markers, also known as liquid chalk, give the best results. The line is crisper and more saturated than with traditional chalk, and it is wiped off wet, with a damp cloth, with no dust. Traditional chalk works too, but it leaves more dust behind. Before the first use it is worth covering the whole surface with chalk and wiping it off, which makes later cleaning easier.

Where do our chalkboards work well?

They are ordered by cafes, restaurants, bars and patisseries for menus and daily offers, by shops for shelf labels and promotions, by play centres and nurseries, and by back rooms and warehouses, where they serve for day to day notes. At home they most often end up in the kitchen as a shopping list and in children's rooms.
