Wojciech Horacy Kossak of Kos coat of arms (born 31 December 1856 in Paris, died 29 July 1942 in Cracow) comes from an artistic family, a leading representative of battle and historical painting, co-author of the Battle of Racławice. Polish precursor of panoramas so popular in Europe at the end of the 19th century. He began his education in painting by copying the paintings of his father - a brilliant self-taught artist, but quickly took care of his own compositions and works.
In the history of Poland he enrolled himself as a leading representative of battle painting. He was also interested in hunting scenes, which he liked to paint between battles.
Kossak created until the last moments of his life, leaving behind an output that cannot even be estimated.
