/ 5 ()

Teodor Axentowicz of the Gryf coat of arms (born May 13, 1859 in Braszów, died August 26, 1938 in Kraków) is one of the most respected artists of Young Poland. Although he was born in Lviv, when he was three years old his family moved to Krakow. It was in this city that Axentowicz, already as a young man, made his first artistic attempts. In order to educate himself in the painting profession, he went to Paris, where he spent 13 years, surrounded by impressionists who developed an ideal sense of light and colour in the artist.

Selected works: At the well, A cradle, Vision - memory, Girl with a blue vase, Under the burden of misfortune, Self-portrait with pallet.
