Michał Anioł is one of the most famous artists of the Renaissance period. An Italian painter, architect and sculptor associated his artistic activity with Rome, where his work was under papal patronage. He led the construction of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, on which he worked until the end of his life, but he did not manage to complete it.
The main theme of Michałangelo's artistic works was a human figure. The artist created only in marble, and his most famous works are the sculpture of David and Pieta.
