Albrecht Dürer, born on 21 May 1471 in Nuremberg; died on 6 April 1528). Born as the third of eighteen children, he had already discovered his artistic talent at the age of several years. He began to learn painting with the artist Michael Wolgemut, He gained fame thanks to his cycle of fourteen woodcuts to the Apocalypse of St. John.
Albrecht Dürer is considered to be the most outstanding artist of the German Renaissance. He is particularly known for his contribution to the development of woodcut, but also for his contribution to the development of copperplate. The German painter also dealt with the theory of art, masterfully mastered the issue of perspective and proportions of the human body.
