Titian (born around 1488-1490 in Pieve di Cadore, died 27 August 1576 in Venice) is an Italian painter, a leading representative of the Venetian school of Italian Renaissance painting. Student of Giovanni Bellini and Giorgione.
Considered an unrivalled model of pure academic painting. The most frequent themes of his works were religious motifs, mythological motifs and allegories, while the characteristic feature of his portraits, which he painted equally often, was the representation of figures looking as if they were immersed in the twilight.
From his name derives the color - titian, which is used to define the color of ore orange.
Selected works: Madonna with a child, Miraculous healing of the leg, Portrait of a man, Portrait of a woman.
