Sandro Botticelli (born March 1, 1445 in Florence, died before May 17, 1510) is an Italian painter of the Florentine school. Already at the age of 25 he opened his own studio, thanks to which he was able to carry out orders from rich Florentine families, which allowed him both to maintain himself and to practice his artistic skills to perfection.
As a painter, Botticelli did not bring any innovative solutions to the history of art. His paintings are quite flat, going beyond the rules of perspective, proportion and ignoring the details of the anatomical structure of the human body. Characteristic of his works are also idealised figures and unusual brightness of robes.
Selected works:, Spring, Birth of Venus, Madonna del Magnificat, Allegory of Power, Madonna del Roseto, Returning Judith, Temptation of Christ.
